Young Womens Film Academy
Little Big Butterfly in partnership with MeerKat Films work to promote and encourage girls and young women to develop skills and interest in the film industry.
Each year the academy work with a core group of young women to explore an issue through film. The participants work with an all female team of film mentors to create an honest, credible and poignant film that they can be proud of.
Our current film ‘The Impossible Dream’ is a film currently being developed with an Asian Girls Group in North Tyneside exploring the challenging decisions teenagers are faced when considering their own ambitions in addition to family expectation and tradition. The film is funded by First Light and will be premiered in June 2013.
Previous projects include “Torn Together” a film about young carers and their mothers supported by Barnardos
