Testimonials

Little Big Butterfly have delivered the 'Butterfly Wild' creative storytelling and crafts activities on three occasions for our Vamos Music Festival events; at the Toffee Factory, ¡VAMOS! Social and our popular Vamos Family Picnic. All events were very well attended, professionally delivered and hugely popular with the families. I couldn't recommend the Butterfly team more!

The 'Using Film and Media with Community Groups' training we had from Clara was outstanding. Delivered at the right pace and level for a very mixed group. The training was broken down really well into understandable and easy to use information. The whole group really enjoyed the training and Clara has an excellent manner when training and makes it fun and inspiring'.

'Thank you on behalf of the Organising Committee, for the wonderful contribution Little Big Butterfly made to the amazing success of the Newcastle Unity Festival.
Your Butterfly Wild Children's tent was outstanding & really added to & complemented the family feel of the event. Given the huge numbers that turned up on the day it was a real help to us, that your side of things was so self-sufficient & we have had nothing but positive feedback on all the activities you presented for the children. The staff you had delivering them were enthusiastic, very friendly and professional with fantastic creativity. It was a great occasion, that we shall be repeating in future, when we look forward to working with you again'.

'The Drama in the Academy Project was a huge success. The process of preparing the script, working together, designing characters and exploring the themes were incredibly valuable for the children chosen to take part (aged from 8-11). School staff chose not to be part of the process to allow the children to relate to other adults who had no pre-conceived ideas about the children – this was very successful and some children blossomed and grew in confidence in this different environment. The performance was of an incredibly high quality that impressed all who saw it. This is certainly a project we would embark on again as the impact on the children was great'.

'Headliners (UK) commissioned Little Big Butterfly to create a series of films with young people with special educational needs and disabilities which told of the young people’s aspirations for the future and the services they might need in order to help local authorities implement new reforms. Clara worked with the young people in a wonderfully creative and supportive way and by genuinely involving the young people in the making of the film and its direction, they were able to voice their honest views and give local authorities a deeper understanding of what is needed to improve the lives of young people with additional needs'.

Clara combined professionalism with empathy to successfully recruit and engage BME women from across Sunderland to record and edit their personal stories as part of the Stories from our Sisters in Sunderland project for Sangini. She brings sincerity, creativity, and displays strong ethics in her work. Her work is of an extremely high quality, and she is unique in being able to bring both technical skills and the ability to understand and work with women.

Clara was further commissioned to produce a showreel to showcase the stories and the project at short notice. She completed this work on time, consulting with stakeholders on content during the process. The result is of a very high quality, and we have been proud to display it in exhibitions of the project and on our website.

Clara’s professional approach to her work significantly benefitted our project, and resulted in creating a quality end product that has been used within schools in the Whitley Bay area by pupils, young people, and parent groups alike. Throughout her time on this project Clara showed to have excellent communication, motivation, and understanding when working with both young people and professionals, and would be a valuable asset to any organisation looking to work with a facilitator.

Having worked with Little Big Butterfly a few times I would certainly recommend them. Little Big Butterfly’s work is collaborative, inventive and forward thinking. But for me what really makes Little Big Butterfly stand out is the balanced combination of Clara Shield’s professionalism and ethics.

Little Big Butterfly were comissioned to work with young students, mainly year 7,8 and 9 to work on a regeneration project effecting their lives and their education and their own environment. The superb guidance, coaching, support and expertise of the Little Big Butterfly Team, which included a locally and nationally recognised playwright, ensured that the ideas, thoughts, writings and performance of a final play/production was brilliant. I can recommend Little Big Butterfly to work with students in your school with drama, performance, writing, production – they were fantastic.
