Creative drama and media workshops
The use of drama as a tool to explore and question has long been a successful intervention within youth and community settings. Little Big Butterfly utilises this method within training settings through the use of role-play, group exercise, trust games and forum theatre. Enabling participants to participate in exploring real-life scenarios and suggesting their own solutions and outcomes can be extremely effective. Often the answer to difficult situations and problems groups or staff teams may be facing is already within their own grasp. Effective drama techniques provides a creative space to explore this effectively. Little Big Butterfly can support groups to go on to develop creative projects including devising and performing short plays, film and forum theatre. Our prices range from half day and day rates £75/£150 for a drama or film workshop, through to short film and theatre production projects starting from £5000 (inclusive of post production). We also offer youth groups mini promotional film opportunities from £500. Please contact us to discuss your workshop needs and we will do our best to provide an opportunity that fits your budget.
Assertiveness and Self Esteem training
All of us at some point in our lives have experienced times when our self-esteem has been damaged and more assertive behaviour would be more appropriate. Little Big Butterfly works with organisations to plan and deliver training for both staff and service users, which examines and enables reflection of behaviour, learning skills and tools to deal with situations more appropriately. This involves recognising typical behaviour patterns, what makes us angry and learning a new skill-set and sense of well-being.
“The sessions were very well delivered, and very warm and kind”
“The facilitator modelled assertiveness, was friendly and helped co-ordinate discussion well”
“The course helped increase my awareness”
Participative Youth Work Consultancy
Involving young people in the evolving world of youth work is a key principle of good youth work practice. Enabling young people to enter into debate with key decision-makers and stakeholders can often be a daunting experience. Providing support and relevant training which recognises the needs and abilities of the young people involved is key to successful and meaningful engagement.
Integrated Youth Support Services has a crucial role for young people to play in shaping the future of young people’s services. Little Big Butterfly can support young people by providing research, workshop facilitation and the development of ‘Youth Charters’ a valuable tool to guarantee robust quality assurance.
Community cohesion training and development
As our world moves forward to be more cosmopolitan and culturally diverse, this can often be difficult for community groups to adapt to. Providing opportunities for the varying cultural groups to explore these feelings in a structured and supportive environment, where their views and anxieties can be voiced without judgement is crucial for finding solutions and ways forward. Researching these issues and presenting findings in a simple and direct approach is a key objective of Little Big Butterfly, allowing individuals and communities to recognise their own thoughts and behaviours represented in the research.
Project Evaluation
‘In order to learn we must reflect on our experience’
Evaluation is a key tool in reflecting on practice, summarising learning and planning for the future. It is often difficult for projects, staff, volunteers and service users to remain objective when evaluating pieces of work. Little Big Butterfly can provide thorough yet sensitive evaluation, suited to the needs of organisations. The methodology used are negotiated and agreed as suitable and appropriate tools by the organisation so that the process is supportive and comfortable for all involved.
